Richard John Scimone

Richard John Scimone, born January 12, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully at his home in Horse Shoe, North Carolina, on March 11, 2026, at the age of 70. His death followed complications related to Agent Orange exposure sustained during his service in the United States Navy.

A proud veteran, Richard served with distinction in the U.S. Navy Seabees. After his military service, he built a respected career as a construction superintendent, earning a reputation for his dedication, strong work ethic, and steady leadership on every project. A devout Catholic, he lived with strength, faith, and compassion in his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, John Scimone; his cherished grandson, Nicolas Scimone; his sister, Lorraine Gensman; and his loving parents, Angelo and Helene Scimone.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Lesa Johnson Scimone; his son, Robert Scimone and his wife, Julie, of Cookeville, Tennessee, and their children, Angelina and Titus Scimone; and two grandchildren, Brian and Anthony Scimone, children of his late son, John. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory, strength, and legacy of service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
