Richard (Dick) HodgeCedar RapidsRichard (Dick) Hodge was born on June 21, 1932, in Maplewood, Ohio to Russell and Mary (Stephenson) Hodge. He attended Sidney High School and was active in the band and science club. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from Miami University Ohio in Electrical Engineering. He worked for North American Aviation for five years, then was hired by Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he worked for over thirty-two years on space, military, commercial, and railroad equipment programs. In 1990 he received the Engineer of the year Award from Collins Commercial Avionics. He later worked for Wabtac for another ten years.Dick was a devoted family man. He married Donna Jean Frank in 1955 and together they raised three children. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, as well as a member of the First United Methodist Church. His hobbies included woodworking, painting, puzzles, and ham radio.Dick is survived by his three children; sons Dr. Richard (Stephanie), Cedar Rapids; Dennis (Terri) Marion; daughter Rev. Dr. Dawn (David) Alitz, Apple Valley, MN. Grandchildren Ben (Anna) Noblesville, IN; Stephen (Lauren) of Spring Hill, TN; Gabe (Brittany), Copper Mountain, CO; Chris (Hiroko) Iwakuni, Japan; Nick (Amber), Chicago, IL; Erin (Mike) Thorson, Marion; Jonah, Marion; Birgit Alitz, Mason City, IA; Tabitha Alitz, Junction City, KS.
