Richard F. SWEENEY

Richard F. “Dick” Sweeney Sr. of Wakefield passed away on March 12. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Bradley) Sweeney of Wakefield.

Dick was the devoted father of Richard F. Sweeney Jr. and his wife, Kelley, of Gloucester, and Timothy W. Sweeney and his wife, Maureen, of Wakefield. He was the adored grandfather of Kaitlin R. Sweeney and Aidan J. Sweeney, both of Gloucester, and Caileigh P. Sweeney and Patrick R. Sweeney, both of Wakefield.

He is also survived by his siblings, Daniel J. Sweeney Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Burlington, Elaine Clarke and her husband, Robert, of Dighton, Darilyn Lydeard and her husband, John, of Lincoln, Rhode Island, and Deborah Sciaba of Westwood, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A lifelong resident of Wakefield, Dick lived a quiet life centered on family, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion remembered by all who knew him.
