Dr. Richard Douglas Clark passed into the arms of the Lord on March 4, 2026, in Middleville, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 28, 1932, in Hastings, Michigan, he was the son of James and Lula (Finkbeiner) Clark.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Beverly (Gleason) Clark, and their children: Greg (Cheryl) Clark, Doug (Gina) Clark, Sue Clark-Granger, Scott (Jennifer) Clark, and Jill (Scott) Spinney. His life was enriched by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Anne Parks and Kathryn (Ralph) Kornoely, along with several nieces and nephews. A proud alumnus of Thornapple-Kellogg High School, class of 1950, Dr. Clark earned both his undergraduate and doctorate degrees in veterinary medicine from Michigan State University by 1956. After beginning his career as a livestock inspector for the State of Michigan, he founded Clark Veterinary in Hastings in 1961. For more than three decades, he provided compassionate care to the community’s animals until his retirement in 1997.

Deeply committed to his community, Dr. Clark served as a Cub Scout leader, remained an active member of Hastings First Presbyterian Church since 1961, and contributed to many church committees. He was also a longtime participant in the Hastings Rotary Club. He found great joy in fishing, traveling with Beverly, and spending quiet time outdoors.
