Richard Deutsch, a cherished husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and compassionate friend, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana. Born on November 27, 1961, Richard lived a life marked by loyalty, hard work, and an abiding sense of joy.
A proud graduate of New Albany High School, where he achieved honor society, he remained deeply rooted in his community. He worked as a skilled plumber and found great fulfillment as an auctioneer, a role he embraced for many years. Richard was also a pioneer in bringing karaoke to the Midwest, becoming a beloved karaoke DJ who shared his passion for music and hosting with his wife Linda, creating countless memories filled with laughter and song.
Those who knew him remember his vibrant, fun-loving spirit and honest character. Hardworking and steadfastly loyal, his greatest pride came from watching his family grow and succeed. He cherished time with his wife Linda, sons Christopher Deutsch (Kim) and Bryan Conner (Margo), daughter Natalie Popplewell, and his grandchildren, often attending ball games and watching his grandson race cars. He also enjoyed fishing, coin collecting, and spending time at the casino with friends, where his warm personality endeared him to all.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Linda Deutsch; sons Christopher Deutsch (Kim) and Bryan Conner (Margo); daughter Natalie Popplewell; grandchildren Waylon Deutsch, Sutton Deutsch, Walker Deutsch, Andrea Conner, Ezrah Conner, Conner Popplewell, and Colton Popplewell; great-grandchildren Marshall Conner and Charlotte Mullinix; and siblings Ronald Deutsch (Carolyn), Peggy Webb (Bruce), Carol Windell, and Tracie Becht (John). He was preceded in death by his mother Martha Deutsch and father Monroe Deutsch. His family’s enduring bond stands as a living tribute to the man whose love and kindness touched so many.
