Richard Dennis DeFrain

Richard Dennis DeFrain, 67, of Oak Ridge Drive in Slatington, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on March 17, 1958, in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Raymond W. DeFrain Jr. and Gladys (Jones) DeFrain.

Richard was the devoted husband of Karen (Kloss) DeFrain. A co-owner of DeFrain Electric, Inc., he had worked for many years in the family’s electrical business. He found great joy in hunting and fishing alongside his brothers, and in spending quiet, meaningful time with his family and friends. He also cherished the weekly “safety” meetings he held each Wednesday with close companions.

A lifelong member of Slatington Baptist Church, Richard served faithfully on many committees, including the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee, where his knowledge and wisdom were frequently sought. He was also a life member of the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club and a proud graduate of Slatington High School, Class of 1976.

Known affectionately as Rich to those who loved him, he is survived by his wife, Karen; stepdaughter Samantha Seibert and her husband, Michael; grandson Harrison; stepgrandchildren Ryan and Nathan; brothers Raymond M. DeFrain Sr. and his wife, Kathryn, and David and his wife, Susan; sister Carol Ann DeFrain; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Carol.
