Cummings Sr., 84 of Bath, NY, formerly of Corning, NY, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Richard was born on August 4, 1941 in Corning, NY to the late Minor and Beatrice (Wilson) Cummings.He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1962. After being honorably discharged he became a Police Officer in Pensacola FL. After returning to NY he briefly owned a gas station, worked as a mechanic for Fuller Chevrolet, then Kapral's, and became a Real Estate Agent before retiring in 2001 from Toshiba in Horseheads.Richard was an avid hunter. His true passion was fishing. He loved spending the day with his sons on the lake.Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dinah (Imes) Cummings. His sons: Richard Jr. (Tyna) Cummings, Aaron (Joyel) Cummings and Sandy (Angi Bulkley) Cummings all of Bath. His daughter, Heather (Matt) Orr of Cameron; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother, James Cummings of Lamoka Lake; and several nephews.In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his two brothers: Clair Cummings and Raymond Cummings; his sister, Barbara VanEtten; and first wife, Toni (Russell) Basile, mother to his sons.Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at Hope Cemetery, Park Ave., Corning, NY, Pastor Gregory Ferguson officiating. Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with Richard's care.In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name can be made to Bucksettlement Baptist Church, 5349 Bucksettlement Rd.
