Burke, beloved husband of Doris (Debus) Burke, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 14, 2026. He was born in Darien, CT on September 21, 1932, to the late Ronald and Mae (Denny) Burke.Rich grew up in Stamford, Connecticut and graduated from Stamford High School in 1952. Rich enlisted into the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War in Utah & Japan. After returning home from service, he worked in the Printing/Newspaper industry at Condé Nast. He worked in multiple aspects in the industry, ultimately working at the New York Post for many years as Production Manager.Richard & Doris were married in 1959, soulmates for 66 years. They first met in high school, but after Rich returned home from the Air Force, a relationship bloomed. Rich & Doris moved to Norwalk. They lived in the same house for 62 years, raising their family of three sons. In the last couple years, he lived with Doris in Guilford, CT.Rich & Doris did everything together, enjoying spending time with family and friends, and traveling the world. Rich had very close relationships with all of his sons & grandchildren. After retirement, he would regularly attend Air Force reunions. Rich & Doris are members of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church on the Green in Norwalk for over 62 years.In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his three sons: Charles Burke (Tammie), Allen Burke, and David Burke (Diane). He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Sean, Branden (Angela), Chad, Logan, Kasey, and Caroline as well as one great-grandchild on the way. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Burke Jr. (Helen) and his sister Dorothy Burke Roberts, as well as his in-laws, Charles and Elizabeth Debus, with whom he had a special relationship.A Funeral Service to celebrate Rich will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12:00 pm, at St. Paul's on the Green, 60 East Ave. Norwalk, CT. Burial with military honors will follow immediately after at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave., Darien, CT.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be placed in Rich's name to the Tunnels to Tower Foundation.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
