Richard Stombaugh ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Inc. on Mar. 9, 2026.Richard Allen Stombaugh of Dover, Delaware, passed away on March 8, 2026, at Evergreen Post Acute Care in Smyrna, Delaware. Richard had recently celebrated his 78th birthday.Richard was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the son of Richard and Margaret Stombaugh.Following his graduation from High School, Richard, and following in his father's footsteps, enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967 where he remained until his release from active duty in 1971 as a Sergeant.Following his release from active duty, he worked at his parent's business in Dover until eventually working for Weeks Alternators, a business he later purchased and successfully ran until becoming ill. Richard, better known as Rick, was exceptionally talented in his ability to fix any equipment which had moving parts.He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers David, Donald, and Timothy. Surviving are his sister Wendy S. Faulkner (Keith), Thomas E. Stombaugh (Li), and his nephews and nieces.Funeral Services will be private at a later date with internment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Bear, Delaware.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
