Alaimo Richard "Dick" passed away peacefully at home in Mount Holly, New Jersey, on March 6, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Passaic and a 1956 graduate of Rutgers University School of Engineering, Dick became a legendary figure in New Jersey civil engineering and civic life. As founder and president of The Alaimo Group, he built a premier civil engineering firm recognized for its excellence and commitment to community preservation.
A dedicated public servant, he served on the board of the South Jersey Port Corporation under 17 governors for more than 50 years, including 32 years as chairman. He also served as a member of the Rancocas Valley Regional High School Board of Education for over four decades. An avid athlete and mentor, Dick coached championship Babe Ruth baseball teams, founded Mount Holly State Bank, held numerous civic posts, and developed Deerwood Country Club in Westampton.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Doris; his children Rick, Peggy Alaimo-Mulligan (Terry), Susan (James) Ferrelli, and Donna (Larry) Clarke; three stepsons, Brian, Leigh, and Miles Powell; nine grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and extended family.
