Richard Schadt ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.Richard A. Schadt, 64, of Vernon, formerly of Tolland, beloved husband and best friend of Ines Lampreia Schadt, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.Ricky lived quietly and thoughtfully, guided by a deep love for nature, truth, and the inner life. He sought peace and bliss, and in his gentle way brought both into the lives of those who knew and loved him.Ricky was born on February 22, 1962, in Fort Carson, Colorado, one of three beloved children of Maria Theresa Schadt of Tolland and the late Andreas Schadt. In 1967 his family moved to Tolland, where he attended local schools and graduated as Valedictorian of Tolland High School, Class of 1980.He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University, where he was recognized as a member of the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society. As a freshman, he joined the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, forming lifelong friendships that he treasured deeply and often described as a true brotherhood. His Lehigh friends remain grateful for more than 45 years of friendship with a kind, generous, and gentle man.A deeply contemplative man, Ricky cultivated a rich inner life. He was devoted to the teachings of the Self-Realization Fellowship and had been initiated into Kriya Yoga, maintaining a daily discipline of meditation, spiritual study, and reflection. These practices shaped the calm presence and quiet wisdom that so many felt in him.Ricky felt most at home in nature. He loved hiking through forests and mountains, exploring national parks, visiting the high points of different states, and cycling through peaceful landscapes. Solitary sports suited his reflective spirit, though he also enjoyed golfing and playing pickleball with Ines. The bond he shared with his son Max was one of the deepest joys of his life, and they especially cherished spending time together outdoors. At home in Vernon, Ricky took great care in creating a peaceful and healthy environment. He tended lovingly to the land and the small waterfall near the house, finding joy in simple daily rituals. He loved music, began his mornings with fresh fruit and quiet reflection, and found happiness in caring for others and creating harmony in the spaces around him.Through his life with Ines, Ricky also developed a deep appreciation for art. His favorite painter was Claude Monet, whose ability to capture light and the quiet beauty of nature resonated deeply with him.Travel was one of Ricky's great joys. Though naturally reserved, he loved discovering new places, meeting people from different cultures, and forming genuine connections wherever he went. Over the years, he and Ines shared many beautiful journeys together. Their seven years together were filled with love, laughter, friendship, and a rare companionship of the soul.Professionally, Ricky built a long and respected career in engineering, working for several companies over the years and dedicating more than two decades to Atlas Copco, where he served as an Application Engineer known for his analytical clarity and thoughtful problem-solving.He faced his illness with remarkable courage, dignity, and spiritual strength. In addition to his loving wife Ines and his mother Maria, Ricky leaves to cherish his memory his son Max Schadt and his wife Jessica McMillin of Tucson, Arizona; his sister Sandy Lucia and her husband Howard Horgan of Bolton, Vermont; his brother Robert Schadt and his wife Susan of Tolland; several nieces and nephews and their families; and his sister-in-law Teresa Lampreia of Brazil.Family and friends are invited to join Ricky's loved ones for calling hours at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 4–6 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.orgTo leave a condolence, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.comTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
