Rex Nolan Hendrix was born on July 1, 1942, in Livingston, Texas, to Ady and Ruth Hendrix. He passed away on March 14, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas, at the age of 83.

Rex graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1960 and later from Sam Houston State University. A devoted man of God, he pastored Big Sandy Community Church for more than 20 years, faithfully serving his congregation and community. He also worked for many years at Champion International before retiring and devoting his time to the pursuits he cherished.

Rex found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including collecting cast iron, repairing Farmall tractors, gardening, squirrel hunting, and spending time cowboying with Flynn Hendrix. Above all, he was a pillar of strength and faith for his family and community.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Winnie Knight Hendrix; son, Floyd “Bo” Treadway and Tracy Mason; daughter, Mildred Smith and Robert; brother, Edwin Hendrix and Betty; grandchildren, Jere Warren and Natisha, Andy Treadway and Dylaney, Allen Treadway, Gared Vannoy, Mendy Fears and Jeffery, Wesley Smith and Amanda, and Spencer Smith and Serena; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy Duff, and his brother-in-law Billy Duff.
