Rex Albert Rogers

Rex Albert Rogers

September 29, 1954 March 7, 2026

Roosevelt, UT

Rex Albert Rogers, age 71, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, finally free from pain. A lifelong resident of Roosevelt, Utah, Rex grew up full of imagination and creativity. At the age of 13 he experienced his first seizure, and over time the seizures and medication presented ongoing challenges to his body. Nevertheless, he remained deeply devoted to working with his hands. He built his first tree house at age 10 and later constructed a go-cart from materials gathered around the yard. Rex went on to create wooden replicas of childhood memories and imaginative gadgets. He spent countless hours in his wood shop each year crafting thoughtful gifts for his family at Christmas.

Rex lived independently for a time on State Street in Roosevelt until his home was destroyed by fire, after which he returned to his mother’s house in Hancock Cove. When her health declined and the house was sold, he moved to the Villa care facility in Roosevelt, where he resided for more than 15 years. Losing his independence was difficult for him, yet he adapted with characteristic resourcefulness. He built a large basket onto an adult tricycle that became his primary means of transportation, using it to collect aluminum cans for income. Later he acquired an electric bike, which he thoughtfully equipped with lights for safety and a fan for cooling during summer rides. On the bike he traveled long distances to visit his siblings regularly.

He is survived by his sisters Jacqueline Stansfield, Julieann Rogers, Patricia Rogers Williamsen, Katherina Christensen, and Valerie (Jim) Asher, and by his brother Robert A. (Joanne) Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Arthur Rogers and Flora Idell Tanner Rogers Elder, his brother Ronald Allen Rogers, and his sister Natalie Elder.
