Reverend Alex Ogden Moon Jr.

Reverend Alexander “Alex” Ogden Moon, Jr., age 88, of Pendergrass, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Alexander Ogden Moon, Sr. and the late Louise Cook Moon.

A longtime resident of Jackson County, Reverend Moon enjoyed a multifaceted career. He retired from Delta Airlines, earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University, and owned and operated Moon Memorial Service. Together with his late wife, he also ran a poultry farm in the Fairview community. Ordained as a Baptist minister, he pastored several area churches, attended Academy Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church, and served as the speaker on the “Witness for Christ” radio program for more than forty years.

Reverend Moon was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Donaldson Moon, as well as his brothers Clyde Tallent and Roy Tallent and his sister Barbara Jones. He is remembered as a devoted messenger of the word of God and a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his five sons and their wives: Donald Moon (Carol) of Jefferson, Tim Moon (Patty) of Gainesville, Steve Moon (Tammy) of Gainesville, Mike Moon (Sandra) of Gainesville, and Lee Moon (Tammy) of Lula; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and eight brothers- and sisters-in-law.
