Born on December 30, 1937, Mac's early years in Texas laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service, education, and family.Mac's unwavering commitment to his country was evident when he joined the Air Force on May 31, 1956. His illustrious career spanned 26 years, including his service to the country in Vietnam. Mac held numerous other positions, including Social Actions Superintendent, and was decorated with recognitions and medals that spoke volumes of his courage and dedication. After retiring from the Air Force in 1982 at Lackland AFB, Mac continued to serve his community as a civil service computer analyst at Kelly AFB and as an associate professor of computer science at St. Phillips University in San Antonio, Texas.He was not just a man of duty but also one of intellect and continuous learning. Mac earned his high school diploma from Phyllis Wheatley High School in Hubbard, Texas. Under the GI bill, he earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Southwest Texas State University, and his doctorate from Webster University. His passion for education was a torch that illuminated the path for many who followed in his footsteps.Mac's life was rich with love and joy shared with his beloved wife, Sally McKenzie, whom he married on October 13, 1959. Together, they built a family that included daughters Beverly McKenzie and Vanessa McKenzie Oladipo, and sons Milton McKenzie, Michael McKenzie , and Malcolm McKenzie. His legacy extended to his grandchildren Vincent, Navaeh, Milton 3rd, Marcus, Matthew, Islam, Ismael, Iyad, Iyaa, Ilaf, Gabriel Jr, Kylie, Kamp, Kenna, Jordan, Jessica, Justice, and Jaye, as well as his sons-in-law Gabriel and Rick, and daughters-in-law Valerie and Iman. Mac also had a long enduring friendship with his golf partner, Harold Owens and his family.An avid athlete, Mac was invited to the 1959 World Series as one of two Air Force MVPs. He also excelled in racketball, handball, and golf. His love for music, reading, and playing cards were sources of relaxation and joy. Mac's life was a symphony of achievements, community service, and unwavering love for his family and friends.March 14, 2026, Mac passed away in San Antonio, Texas, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's. His departure from this world is felt deeply by all, yet his spirit remains a guiding light. Mac was intelligent, kind, and courageous, qualities that were the pillars of his remarkable life.As we remember MSgt Milton "Mac" McKenzie, let us reflect on the words of Helen Keller: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."
