RENE GLASER ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Watson-Hunt Funeral Home - Perry on Mar. 9, 2026.PERRY –Valerie Rene' Taylor Glaser passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026. She was 76 years old. Services will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to your local American Cancer Society.Rene' was born on November 16, 1949, to the late Anna and Thomas Taylor in Savannah, Georgia. They lived on Silk Hope Island where she learned to love the "Salt life." The family moved to North Augusta, South Carolina, where she enjoyed an adventurous childhood living upstairs on her parents' houseboat restaurant under the 5th Street bridge on the Savannah River. Rene' attended North Augusta High School and furthered her career as a Licensed Optician. She moved back to Savannah, Ga in 1975 and worked for Dr. Alan Wexler for many years before moving to Perry, Ga in 1992 where she continued her career at EyeSight Associates, working with Dr Johnny Gayton in Warner Robins. Rene' worked as an optician for over 50 years and met many wonderful patients and co-workers who became dear friends. She loved her job so much that she continued to work part time at EyeSight Associates after her retirement age.Rene' was an active member of First Baptist Church of Perry and a member of the Greg White Sunday School Class. Throughout her life she loved cooking, eating seafood, and enjoying the beach. Her green thumb was evident in the plants she nurtured both inside and outside her home. She loved sharing time with family and friends.The family extends its sincere appreciation for The Phoenix at Lake Joy and Family Hospice for the gentle kindness and loving care they provided during the most difficult year and final days of her life. She met so many new and dear friends living there.Rene' was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 45 years, Allen Glaser Jr.; and her siblings, Sherry Rice, Ida Lynn Lariscy, and Tommy Taylor.Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Nat Greene of Thomson, Ga; her son and daughter-in-law, Mat and Cathy Glaser of Coral Springs, FL; her grandchildren, Megan May, Taylor May, Connor May, Phoebe Glaser, and Zander Glaser; her closest dear friend, Joyce Emerson of Perry; and many nieces and nephews.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
