Rebecca W. Semple
Parkesburg, PA
Rebecca W. Semple, affectionately known to all as “Becky,” passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, at the age of 97. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul D. Semple, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage and a lifetime of cherished memories.
Born on July 5, 1928, in Steelville, Becky was the daughter of the late Walter H. Wilson and Nora McMillian. Raised on the family farm, she developed a steadfast work ethic from an early age. She earned an associate’s degree from Lancaster School of Business and enjoyed a successful career, first as an executive secretary in the sales division at Lukens Steel for over ten years. She later joined Brandywine Savings and Loan as a part-time teller while raising her family, eventually returning to full-time work and advancing to the role of Branch Manager. At her retirement in 1990, she had devoted more than 25 years to the institution.
A longtime resident of Second Avenue in Parkesburg, Becky was deeply active in her community. A faithful member of Parkesburg Presbyterian Church, she volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels and was best known for organizing travel for the Parkesburg Seniors for more than 25 years. She planned dozens of memorable trips, from cross-country bus tours to international excursions, sharing her love of travel with friends and neighbors alike.
Becky’s greatest joy came from surrounding herself with family and friends. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly created dresses, costumes, and quilts for those dear to her. She was also an exceptional baker whose famous whoopie pies were a favorite at every gathering. Whether golfing with Paul at Moccasin Run Golf Club, hosting lively pinochle games, or cheering for her beloved Philadelphia Phillies, Becky filled her days with laughter and companionship.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Holly Pride, and her husband, Bob, of Gap; her cherished granddaughter, Brittany Pride Sellitto, and her husband, Jon, of Newtown Square; her sister, Joan Smith; and her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Wilson. She was preceded in death by her four siblings: Thelma Wentz, Alma Thomas, Ethel Rea, and Harry K. Wilson.
