Rebecca Imogene Porter
March 30, 1939— March 6, 2026
Bell Buckle, TN
Rebecca Imogene Porter, known affectionately as Becky, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at her home in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones. She was 86. Born on March 30, 1939, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, to Claud and Nora Borden Hooper, Becky lived a life shaped by family, adventure, and quiet joys.
As the wife of a USAF veteran, she lived abroad in Holland and in several states including Arizona, North Carolina, and Alaska before returning to Oklahoma in 1974. She raised three daughters—Debra Kay Sauerwine of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Sandra Sue Graham of Hendersonville, Tennessee; and Sharon Marie Hahn of Yukon, Oklahoma—and took great pride in each of them. In 1992 she moved to Bell Buckle, where she married her high school sweetheart, Walter Porter, also a USAF veteran. Their 33 years together were filled with travel, family gatherings, and the simple pleasures of retirement. Walter often said, “Becky has been good to me and good for me.”
Becky cherished her family above all. She loved tending to her flowers, playing games, and was known for her fierce competitiveness at canasta and the family card game Pitch, where she took special delight in besting her grandchildren. Her warm smile and infectious laugh brightened every room. In earlier years she enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, baking, and watching hummingbirds. A member of Victory Baptist Church, she remained close to her faith throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Betty Dacy and Christine Hardy, brother Bobby Hooper, and son-in-law Bob Sauerwine. Becky is survived by her husband Walter Porter; daughters Debbie Sauerwine, Sandy (Philip) Graham, and Sherry (John) Hahn; stepson David (Chris) Porter; grandchildren Ben Porter, Cory Graham, Dylan Hahn, Garrett Hahn, and Jordan Hahn; and sister Shirley Cook.
