Ponce, age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas, surrounded by family. She was born on September 15, 1929 in Christine, Texas. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Jesusita Buitron, brother, Salvador Buitron, sister, Mary B. Sanchez, beloved granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Mendez; and her loving husband of 61 years, Marcelino Ponce.Rebecca worked for many years as a talented seamstress, creating beautiful pieces with skill and dedication. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved cooking and took great pride in preparing meals for her family. Her laughter, gentle spirit, and generous heart created countless treasured memories for her family and friends. She was truly a pillar in our family, someone whose strength, kindness, and guidance held us together. She will always be remembered for her unwavering Catholic faith, her strong work ethic and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy will continue to live on through the generations she helped shape. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.Rebecca is fondly remembered by her devoted family, her three daughters, JoAnn Ponce, Linda Mendez and husband Joseph, Judy Levin and husband Robert; Sister, Elosia Vite and her husband David, grandchildren; Heather Gonzalez, Lori DeLuna, Jacob and Jennifer Mendez, Zachary, and Matthew Moya and Ashley Salinas, great grandchildren; Sophia Castillo, Liam Gonzalez, Clarie and Karri Holmes and Eloise Gonzalez.Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
