Raymond Waters ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.Raymond Peter Waters (Ray), age 94, of Hingham, MA and Scottsdale, AZ. passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026. Born in Boston, MA in 1931, Ray grew up in Dorchester MA and attended Boston English High School and Boston University. He met his beloved wife Shirley in Dorchester and they settled in Hingham, MA where they raised their two children. Ray served as a middle school teacher in Hingham MA for many years until his retirement and he happily spent many summers working at World's End. While a teacher in Hingham, he earned a master's degree in counseling at Suffolk University. Ray influenced generations of students with his calm presence, guidance, sense of humor and commitment to learning. Ray enjoyed spending time with friends and family, tennis, football, reading, watching the news, visiting the library, dogs, cats, Jimmy's Diner, Dunkin Donuts and keeping up with the residents of Hingham. His daily coffee group in Weymouth was one of his greatest joys - a place for friendship, laughter and lively banter. Ray was dependable, devoted, charming and quietly generous. Following his retirement, he spent many years providing care to his uncle and to his wife Shirley during their illnesses. Ray had a natural ability to listen and make people laugh and his presence made any gathering warmer. Those who knew him well will remember his kind heart, steady strength and booming laugh. He will be remembered as a devoted father, dedicated teacher, loyal friend and a man who found happiness in connection. His life was long, well lived and deeply appreciated by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Carla Waters, son, Peter Waters, son in law, Philip Moulaison, brother in law, Victor Tammi and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Waters and his sister, Marcia Caregeorges. A gathering to share memories and celebrate Ray's life will be held at a later date. The family will share details once finalized. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity and/or performing an unsolicited act of kindness for a less fortunate individual on Ray's behalf is requested.Legacy.com reports daily on death announcements in local communities nationwide.
