Raymond Stanley Christy

1964 — 2026

Milton, NY

Raymond Stanley “Stan” Christy, 61, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Saratoga Hospital following a brief illness. A four-year resident of Milton, he had previously lived for twenty years on Front Street in Schenectady.

Born on June 12, 1964, in Canton, New York, to Richard “Dick” Christy and Irene Gilette, Stan was educated in the Canton schools and pursued college studies while still in high school. After a short time in San Diego, he returned to New York and settled in the Capital Region. He briefly operated a popular tattoo parlor in Amsterdam before becoming a manager for several Cumberland Farms stores throughout Schenectady. Following a battle with cancer, he joined the staff of Proctors Theatre, where he revitalized the theater’s popcorn and candy shop and took on many roles, applying his strong management skills and professional demeanor to enhance every guest’s experience.

While living in Schenectady’s Stockade neighborhood, Stan became the trusted neighborhood resource for countless home projects, operating under the name “Stan-the-Honey-Do Man.” He also ran a snow-plowing business called “Plow-N-Go,” taking pride in maneuvering his small Jeep Wrangler plow through the tight spaces of the historic district. After purchasing his first home on Front Street, he and his husband Gerald opened the G&S Bed & Breakfast, a five-star establishment that served the public successfully for three years as the only certified city-sanctioned bed and breakfast in both Schenectady and the county.

Stan is survived by his loving and devoted husband of twenty-seven years, Gerald F. Plante, his stepsister Holly Stone and her husband Jim along with their families, and a wide circle of friends near and far.
