Steil, of Harleysville, PA, and formerly of Perkasie, PA, and Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem, PA. He was 90 years old.Born in Ulster, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore E. Sr. and Elizabeth Maier Steil.He celebrated 49 years of marriage to Theda F. (McKinney) Steil prior to her death on October 24, 2007. Through his love of square dancing, he met Lena (Freidel) Steil, and they married in 2010. They celebrated 10 years of marriage prior to Lena's death on January 2, 2021.Ray was a proud U. S. Marine Corps Veteran, having served in Jacksonville, FL and Quantico, Va from 1957 until 1960 as a helicopter electrician which included working on the president's helicopter.Following his military service, Ray entered the University of South Florida attaining a degree in education so that he could become a teacher. He later earned a Master's Degree in Education from Ohio Wesleyan University. He taught middle school math and science for 25 years in Hillsborough County, FL.He volunteered for more than 20 years at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, PA, and with the Pennridge Meals on Wheels. In recent years during his residence at Arbour Square, he enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with many friends.He is survived by a daughter, Colleen Steil Michaels (Jim) and stepchildren Jerry Freidel (Karen), Linda Earnshaw, and Lori Good (Tim); two grandchildren, Aaron Michaels and Andrew Michaels (Anne); and two sisters, Virginia Bruckner (Bruce) and Margaret Guinan (Tom). In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Theodore Steil, Jr., Donald Steil, Sylvia Beebe, and Mary Plummer.A private gathering to celebrate his life for family and close friends will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, P.
