Deacon Raymond Louis Segura, Sr., 85, of Jennings, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Born on December 24, 1940, in Jennings to the late Jonas Raymond Segura and Ouida Odessa Booth-Segura, he received his early education in the Jefferson Davis Parish School System before graduating from Grambling State University. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Master of Education Degree, and completed an additional 30 hours of graduate study. A proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Rho Chi Chapter, and the Grambling Alumni Association, he also belonged to the Retired Teachers Association and served on the Board of Directors for the James Ward Sr. Federal Credit Union.

A lifelong follower of Christ, Raymond was baptized at an early age and became a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Gerald W. Perkins, Sr. He faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry and as Sunday School Teacher for the Adult Men’s Class. His distinguished career in education was recognized when he was named Elementary Principal of the Year in Jefferson Davis Parish and Principal of the Year for Region 5 of Louisiana for 1995-1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Chloe’ A. Thibodeaux. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Geraldine Johnson Segura; his children, Raymond L. Segura, Jr. of Jennings, Louisiana, and Dawn E. Segura of San Diego, California; his grandchildren, Zeelee Segura of Los Angeles, California, Simone Coffman and Kingston Segura of Waialua, Hawaii; and his siblings, Royce Segura Levy of Jennings, Louisiana, and Sandra Gaynell Segura Perry of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
