He was predeceased by: his parents, Arley Lee and Genevive Walters (McKibben); his brother Richard "Dick" Walters; his son Steven Grigsby; and his siblings-in-law, Donnie Qualls and Wanda Grueser.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Walters (Qualls); his children, Shawn Walters (Lisa) of St. Louisville, Wendy Walters (Jim Watkins) of Dresden, Kelley Williams (Larry) of Florida, Donald "Degie" Grigsby Jr. (Kris) of Utica and Teresa Jacks of Zanesville; his brother Robert "Bob" Walters (Marianne) of Florida; and his sisters-in-law, Barb Pontz and Linda Qualls. He is also survived by 10 grandkids, 18 great grandkids, and 5 great-great grandkids.

A funeral service was held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at the Brucker-Baker Funeral Home (34 N Main St, Utica, OH 43080).
