South Pittsburg, TN
Raymond Edward Hibbs, age 86, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in South Pittsburg, he served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long career as an ironworker. A proud and dedicated member of Iron Workers Local 704 for 36 years, Raymond was known as a hardworking man who took great pride in his craft and in providing for his family. After retiring, he remained active installing hardwood and tile flooring, a trade he loved and that allowed him to continue using his hands to serve others.
A faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Raymond’s Christian faith was central to his life. He cherished the fellowship and worship he shared with his church family. One of his greatest joys was music. He had a deep love for gospel bluegrass and spent many hours playing the guitar and dobro, sharing his faith and bringing joy to those around him. He will be remembered as a man of faith, humility, and quiet strength whose life reflected his love for God, his country, and the simple blessings of family, music, and community.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Sarah Payne Hibbs, and his siblings, Horace Hibbs, Rose Jones, Linda Hibbs, Robina Hibbs, Freida Sitz, Samuel Hibbs, and Ralph Hibbs.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Naomi Reeves Hibbs; stepdaughters, Celeste Choate Rogers and Deanna (Corey) Hughes; grandsons, Garrett Rogers and Lincoln Hughes; and siblings, Sue Giles, Wilma (Jimmy) Haun, Roy (Ruth) Hibbs, Rachel Hibbs, Charles Hibbs, Paul (Wilma) Hibbs, Danny (Gail) Hibbs, Johnny (Joyce) Hibbs, and Joe (Carol) Hibbs, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
