Raymond D. Saffell

Raymond Durr Saffell, 83, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Trinity Health in St. Clairsville. He was born March 7, 1943, in Glencoe, Ohio, a son of the late Suell and Flora A. Travis Saffell.Ray was a coal miner at the McElroy Mine in Moundsville. He was also previously employed at Clifford Motors, Loy's Building Center, Warwood Tool & Die, Rose Hill Cemetery in Bellaire, Wilbert Vault Company, and Earl Foster's Store in Warnock.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Fred Saffell and his sister, Shirley Saffell.He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Ann Kubica Saffell; three sons, James, John and Raymond Saffell; four grandchildren, Brittny Masloski, Austin, Chelsea and Preston Saffell; two great-grandchildren, Bryleigh and Bristol Masloski.Family and friends will be received on Thursday at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville from 12 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Kris Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Glencoe Cemetery.
