Raymond Augustus Walters, age 96, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 13, 2026 at Christian Care Communities in Louisville. Born on October 4, 1929 in Paducah, Kentucky, he was the son of Louis A. and Josephine (Roetteis) Walters.
Mr. Walters enjoyed a long and dedicated career with The Kroger Company, where he worked for forty-five years as a meat cutter, head meat cutter, and in store management. After retiring from Kroger, he continued working for thirteen years as a funeral coach driver for Greater Louisville Limousine Service, serving several funeral homes in the Kentuckiana area. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member and Deacon Emeritus of First Baptist Church in Middletown, Kentucky, and a thirty-second-degree member of the Free and Accepted Masons. In his free time, he found great joy in fishing and hunting.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Carol Walters and Gary and Kristine Walters, all of Louisville; one daughter, Carolyn Brown of Versailles, Kentucky; one brother, Joe Walters of Louisville; nine grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Glenna (Jetter) Walters, whom he married on February 19, 1948 and who passed away on June 13, 2017; two sisters; two brothers; one grandson, Matthew Raymond Walters; and one great-granddaughter, Katlyn Marie Walters.
