Ray Tominaga ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hawker Funeral Home - Blackfoot on Mar. 13, 2026.Ray Kiyoharu TominagaRay Kiyoharu Tominaga passed away on March 12, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.Ray was born on May 4, 1957, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the oldest son of Frank Makoto and Kimiko Umezaki Tominaga. As a child, Ray was always on the go and known for his infectious smile. He attended schools in the Snake River School District and graduated from Snake River High School in 1975.Following high school, Ray attended Idaho State University, where he studied accounting and earned a place on the Dean's List. He graduated in 1979 with a degree in business and later obtained his CPA. After graduation, Ray began his career working for Boise Cascade and later for Simplot. Eventually, he returned home to help farm alongside his father and brother, Richard. When their father retired in 1989, Ray and Richard continued operating the family farm together until Ray's retirement in 2013.Ray was actively involved in his community and the agricultural industry. He earned awards as 1996-97 Outstanding Grower of the Year from Driscoll Potatoes Inc and 2008 Farmer of the Year from the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and Land Use Department. He served as a past Chairman and Secretary of PGI in 2006-07 and spent time serving on the FSA board in 2015. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center, where he helped prepare taxes for senior citizens.In 1991, Ray married Rosemary Rice. Rosemary passed away in 1999 and preceded him in death. He later married Theresa Lockyer in 2006; they were later divorced.Ray loved golfing, playing pool, and competing in pool tournaments. He also enjoyed fishing from time to time. Ray was known for his determination and resilience, especially in the way he faced and fought his battle with Parkinson's disease.Ray was preceded in death by his father, Frank Makoto Tominaga, and his wife, Rosemary Tominaga.He is survived by his mother, Kimiko "Kimi" Tominaga; his brother, Richard (JoAnn) Tominaga; his sister, Gloria (Chris) Minor; his niece, Quinn (Mike) Lindsay; nephews Michael (Megan) Tominaga, Marcus (Brittney) Tominaga, and Jack Minor; and nieces Kylie (Jake) Fultz. He is also survived by many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.A viewing will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., also at Hawker Funeral Home.The family would like to give special recognition and thanks to the ICU staff at Idaho Falls Community Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
