Ray McCormick, 91, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away on March 13, 2026. Born on June 3, 1934, to the late William Clyde McCormick and Mildred Aden McCormick, he lived a life marked by quiet strength, generosity, and deep devotion to family and community.
For more than 30 years, Ray owned and operated AMP Construction, where his dedication, craftsmanship, and integrity earned the lasting trust and respect of clients and colleagues alike. He was honored in 2007 as Huntingdon’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year for his many contributions to the community. A loyal supporter of Huntingdon Mustang athletics, he gave his time and expertise to help build the Mustang baseball field, creating a lasting space for generations of young athletes. A longtime and faithful member of Huntingdon First United Methodist Church, he lived his faith through kindness, humility, and service.
To his family, he was lovingly known as “Daddy” and “Pop Ray.” He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol McCormick; a grandson, Will Fisher; his brother, Jack McCormick; and his sisters, Mildred Louise McCormick Mozena and Nancy McCormick Calcagno.
Ray is survived by his four daughters, Vicki (Gary) Cannizzo of Nashville, Susan Fisher of Huntingdon, Jan (Gerald) Scarbrough of Huntingdon, and Shelley Gurley of Huntingdon; a sister-in-law, Marilyn McCormick; ten grandchildren, Erich Moody, Matt (Kelly) Moody, Megan Moody, Lindsey (Justin) Johnson, Courtney (Matt) Cole, Dylan Gurley, Brinn (Austin) Avery, Heather (Kevin Wilkes) Gurley, Brandon (Jessica) McCormick, and Loren (Dusty) Hatfield; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Beau.
