Ray Clifford Perkins, Jr., born on September 30, 1951, in Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away at the age of 74 on March 14, 2026, in Owenton, Kentucky. A lifelong scientist, Ray dedicated himself to research and carried a deep passion for learning and discovery throughout his life. He was known for his warm personality and generous spirit, traits that endeared him to everyone he met.

Ray found great joy in music, listening intently and skillfully playing the guitar while patiently teaching others. An accomplished carpenter, he excelled at woodworking and the art of restoring furniture and pianos, using his hands to create beauty and restore treasured items. He was also a talented cook whose homemade bread and strawberry cake were beloved by family and friends. His home was always open and welcoming to loved ones, and he especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren. An avid traveler, he explored many corners of the world, including China, Canada, parts of Europe, Australia, and Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa "Teri" Spicer Perkins, whom he married on August 23, 1970. He leaves behind his daughters, Sarah-Ellen (Chris) Leonard and Rachel Fint (Bryan Elliott), along with his beloved grandchildren: Vincent Leonard, Allie Fint, Sean Fint, and Caitlin Fint. He was also a proud bonus grandfather to Austin, Bryan Jr., Logan, Wyatt, Aiden, Madi, Sheala, Josh, Sophia, and Dream. Ray's siblings also survive him: Kenny (Beth) Perkins, Bobby (Cheryl) Perkins, Larry Perkins, Jeff (Valerie) Perkins, Roger Perkins, and Lori (Chris) England. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Nannie Elanor Ashcraft Perkins.

Ray will be remembered as a man who loved music, craftsmanship, family, and adventure. His gentle spirit and generous heart left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
