Raul Garcia Barbosa, born July 27, 1959, in Brownsville, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2026. A lifelong resident of Brownsville, Raul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence brought love and strength to his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Barbosa, his mother, Francisca Garcia Barbosa, and his sister, Juanita Barbosa. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Martha Barbosa. He is also survived by his sisters, Gracie and Elena Barbosa, and his brothers, Jose Jr., Jorge, and Daniel Barbosa. His children are Ninfa Chavez (Martir), Esmeralda Mata (Benny), Jenifer Lopez (José Luis), Raul Barbosa Jr. (Ashley), and Edward Barbosa (Monica).

Raul was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was not just a grandpa but a best friend who could make an entire room laugh in moments of silence. Known as the best listener and hugger, he was the person his family would run to when everything felt off. A passionate Dallas Cowboys fan and huge WWE wrestling fan, he created countless memories watching matches with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him their Tribal Chief.

Through the lives of his great-grandchildren, Raul’s love continues to grow, ensuring that his memory and values will endure. His greatest legacy remains his close and united family, who will carry his love, strength, and values for generations to come.
