Ratha Cotner ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by King & Shearwood Funeral Home Inc on Mar. 12, 2026.Ratha Lee Cotner 86, of Porum passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2026 at Warner. She was born at Muskogee on January 16, 1940 to Ray Hansel Varnell and Oleta (Samples) Varnell. She grew up at Porum where so was educated. She was married to Donald Lee Cotner on May 7, 1961 and made their home together at Porum. She devoted her life to her husband, her son and her family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing the piano. She welcomed all of her nieces and nephews at all times. Ratha was a devout Christian lady who that loved Jesus and her church. She was a long time member of the House of Prayer Church. After the death of her husband she and her brother Bobby would share a home together. She and her family will be forever grateful to Bobby for all the years of taking care of her.She is survived by her son, Rick Cotner and wife, Tami of Porum; her brother, Bobby Varnell of Porum; her grandchildren, Britany Underwood and husband Dillon of Whitefield, Chelsey Locust and husband Derek of Vian; her great granchildren, Addy Bush, Tynli Bush, Easton Locust, Reid Locust, Sawyer Locust; her special nieces, Kim Pryor of Briartown and Barbara Richerson of Muskogee; numerous other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hansel and Oleta Varnell; husband, Donald Lee Cotner; one brother, Curtis Varnell; two sisters, Francis Tillery and Sarah Cotner.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the First Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ at Porum with Reverend Charles Cotner officiating. The Eulogist will be Pastor Charles Smith. Pallbearers will be Rick Cotner, Johnny Varnell, Randy Varnell, Bert Cotner, Joel Cotner, Trey Renfrow. Honorary pallbearers include Terry Varnell, Layton Varnell, Porter Renfrow, Trey Renfrow, J.D. Pryor, Derek Varnell. Burial will follow at Briartown Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
