Randy Lawrence Greener

Randy Lawrence Greener

Columbus, OH

Randy Lawrence Greener, age 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 12, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. Born and raised in Euclid, Ohio, he graduated from Lutheran High School East and went on to attend Cleveland State Community College, Northeast Bible Institute in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, and International Bible College in San Antonio, Texas, where he earned a Ministerial Diploma.

Randy worked for Lubrizol Corporation in Wickliffe, Ohio, Joske’s Department Store in San Antonio, and managed a shoe store in Laredo, Texas. He spent many years as a charismatic and hard-working shoe salesman at Szabo’s Shoes in Rocky River, Ohio, where he formed friendships that became like family. He married the love of his life, Yvonne, on February 21, 1975, affectionately calling her “his angel.” Together they had their only child, Debra, whom he always referred to as “kiddo.” He was also blessed with a son, Scott, from a previous marriage.

A man of deep faith, Randy and Yvonne attended Harvest Assembly of God. He loved singing baritone gospel songs, cherished nature and animals, and found joy exploring local parks and trails with his wife. Known as a jokester who made friends and family laugh, Randy took pride in his vast store of trivia, once calling himself the “Master of Useless Information.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Fred Greener, and his beloved dog Pekoe. Randy is survived by his loving and devoted wife Yvonne (Magnon) Greener, children Debra (Mark) McGinnis and Scott (Tammy) Dugan, grandchildren Kennedy and Marly McGinnis and Matthew and Audrey Dugan, younger brother Robert (Sandy) Greener, niece Laura (Zahar) Keselman, and nephew Josh Greener. In keeping with his private and understated nature, an informal remembrance was held by those closest to him.
