June 13, 1957— March 9, 2026
Park Rapids, MN
Randy Arnold George, 68, of Park Rapids, passed away on March 9, 2026, at his home with his wife by his side. After a long and complicated battle with leukemia, he found peace and comfort.
Born in Park Rapids on June 13, 1957, to Arnold and Patricia (DeMaris) George, Randy was the middle of five children. He grew up in Hibbing and graduated with the class of 1975. That same year, on July 5, he married Diane Schmid. Together they raised two children, Amy Marie and Ryan David.
Randy began his working life at Dahl’s Bakery and later managed Red Owl Bakery. He then pursued a new path, graduating from Wadena Technical College in 1991 with a Journeyman Lineman Certificate. He began his career with Itasca Mantrap in 1988 and retired after 35 years in 2023. Even in retirement, he stayed active by driving a school bus until his health no longer allowed.
He cherished his morning coffee with friends, loved hunting and fishing, and looked forward to yearly family trips. Randy spent many peaceful hours on his hunting land, finding solace in nature. A man of quiet faith, he regularly attended Faithbridge Church. Known for his remarkable ability to fix anything—plumbing, electrical work, woodworking, or vehicles—he approached every challenge with persistence and intelligence. Above all, Randy was hard-working, determined, and deeply devoted to his family and friends, always ready to lend a hand to those he loved. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane George of Park Rapids; his children, Amy Heinzen and Ryan George, both of Moorhead; his siblings, Beverly (Dennis) Wright of Osage, Connie Akins of Park Rapids, Pam (Jeff) Howard of Burnsville, and Tom (Tracy) George of Punta Gorda, Florida; his in-laws, Leo and Lois Schmid of Park Rapids; his honorary brother and friend, Jeff Sievers of Park Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Tara Akins.
