Randolph Patrick Mutdosch
Greenville, PA
Randolph Patrick Mutdosch, 79, of Greenville, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on January 27, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Victor Lawrence Mutdosch and Rhea Patricia Charlton.
Randy proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War from August 1966 to August 1968. On August 23, 1969, he married Nancy Lucile Stuver, and together they built a life centered around family and laughter. He worked for many years on the Bessemer Railroad before continuing his career at Werner Co., where he retired. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department.
Randy enjoyed playing softball for many years on several local teams and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He rarely missed his weekly cornhole games with his longtime friends Ron and Bob Callahan, Harry Davis, Dan Mowry, and Paul Smith. Known in the West Salem area as the “Green Man,” he wore his high-visibility clothing during his daily three-mile walk, which he began at 7 a.m. every day regardless of weather. These walks led to deep friendships with many neighbors, whom he helped with various tasks on what they affectionately called their “Randy To-Do Lists.”
After retirement, Randy cherished time at home with his family. He lovingly ran what the family called “Grampy’s Daycare,” caring for his school-aged grandchildren and creating “homework” for them. He loved working outdoors, relaxing by the fire pit or on his swing, tackling projects with his son-in-law Jim, and tending to his many bird feeders while awaiting the arrival of his beloved orioles and hummingbirds. He enjoyed driving around the property on his golf cart with Nancy or the grandchildren, checking on the birds, flowers, trees, and family. A proud veteran who loved his country, Randy displayed that pride daily by raising and lowering the flag on his large flagpole with care and respect.
Randy is survived by his wife, Nancy; three children, sons James of Greenville, Pennsylvania, and Thomas (Tanya) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and daughter Cindy (Jim) Tupper of Greenville; grandchildren Dakotah Mutdosch, Sophia Tupper, Ross Tupper, Victoria Mutdosch, and Zachary Mutdosch; three great-grandchildren; and siblings Timothy (Carol) Heart, Deborah (Bill) Snyder, and David (Laurie) Mutdosch. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary Mutdosch, and his sister Kathy Dale.
