Randolph E. Childs

Randolph “Randy” E. Childs of Centerville, Massachusetts, died on March 10 after a long illness. Born in Hyannis in 1941 to Ernie and Dot Childs, Randy graduated from Charlestown Vocational High School. At nineteen he became the youngest person in Massachusetts to earn both a Journeyman and Master electrician’s license. He married his high-school sweetheart and next-door neighbor, Susie, when he was eighteen. The couple shared sixty-one years of marriage.

Randy founded Associated Alarm Systems and Central Station of Cape Cod, retiring as a successful businessman. He served as president of the Hyannis Rotary Club and the Massachusetts Alarm Association. He found joy in model railroading and operating sessions with friends, cross-country RV travels with Susie, time spent with family, and building his businesses.

He was the husband of the late Loretta (Sue) Harman Childs. Randy was predeceased by his son, Robert R. Childs, and his daughter, Mary (Childs) Tynell. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Keane of Centerville; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Andrea Childs of Marstons Mills; his son-in-law, Scott Tynell of North Falmouth; grandchildren Chris and Alex Tynell, Lauren (Keane) Santoro, and Austin Keane; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Ken Hallman of South Yarmouth.
