Ramona Lou Duckworth, age 86, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8th, 2026. Born on October 14th, 1939, in Milan, Georgia, she lived a life marked by quiet dedication and deep affection for those around her.
A retired lab technician at Charleston County Memorial Hospital, Ramona devoted herself to the care of others, both in her professional work and in her personal life. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, known for her warm heart and her special fondness for animals. She found joy in playing bingo with friends at John Wesley Villas and remained active in her faith at Rock Springs Church in Macon.
She is survived by her son, Steve Underwood (Laura), and daughter, Donna Underwood O’Brien (Kevin); her sisters, Helen Rutledge and Frankie Johnson (Orsin); grandchildren Parker O’Brien and Dr. Leigh Bennett (Wade); and great-grandchildren Laura Elizabeth, Judith, Corrie, and Andrew Bennett, as well as Kaden and Karson Underwood. Ramona will be fondly remembered by many friends in Hendersonville and Flat Rock, North Carolina, and Macon, Georgia.
She joins in eternal peace her parents, William Maxwell Chambers and Mandy Lou Chambers; her husband of 42 years, William James Duckworth; her brothers, Floyd Chambers and Max Chambers; her sister, Betty Knowles; and her grandsons, Cooper O’Brien and Kyle Underwood.
