Ramon L. “Raymond” Santiago, 53, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2026, in Rhode Island. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Rosa (Arguinzoni) Saldana of New Bedford and the late Genaro Saldana Santiago. He lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Raymond worked for Transwinds Cleaning Service Company Inc. for more than forty years. He found his greatest joy in time spent with family, fishing with his best friend Milton Mendoza on his boat, playing bean bag toss with his son and friends, competing in horseshoes with his league, and hosting lively family cookouts. He loved cooking for friends and relatives, and his world-famous pernil was a cherished highlight of every gathering. Those who knew him will always remember his bright smile, his generosity, and his contagious love.
He leaves behind his mother, Rosa; his girlfriend, Christy Dina Rebeiro of New Bedford; three sons, Joel Santiago and his wife Narayah of North Carolina, Ramon Santiago Jr. and Adryan Santiago, both of New Bedford; a daughter, Aleesia Santiago of Washington; Albert Rebeiro, who was a father figure and mentor to him; a brother, Orlando Santiago of New Bedford; two sisters, Evelyn Cruz of New Bedford and Rosa Santiago and her husband Miguel Agosto of Puerto Rico; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alvin Santiago and Genaro Santiago Jr.
