December 5, 1953— March 8, 2026
Del Rio, TX
Ramiro Maldonado Salazar, age 72, of Del Rio, Texas, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on December 5, 1953, in Del Rio to Jesus and Petra Salazar, he grew up in the San Felipe area and attended San Felipe High School. Surrounded by family and a tight-knit community, he carried the values of that upbringing throughout his life.
After working for several manufacturing companies in his younger years, Ramiro found his true calling as a self-employed commercial and residential painter. For more than thirty years, he earned a reputation as a skilled craftsman who approached every job with pride, dedication, and a commitment to quality. His reliability and attention to detail won him the lasting trust of many loyal clients.
Ramiro was an outdoorsman who found deep contentment in fishing, hunting, and hiking. He also enjoyed combing through thrift stores and flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and bargains that became stories in their own right. Those who knew him will remember his sharp sense of humor, his gift for storytelling, and his ability to turn ordinary moments into laughter. Though often a man of few words, when he spoke it was usually with quiet wisdom or a perfectly timed, good-hearted quip.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Petra Salazar, and his siblings Johnny Tellez, Jesus Salazar Jr., Herbenia “Benny” Esparza, Mario Salazar, Hector “Tito” Salazar, and Lance Corporal Rene Salazar. Ramiro is survived by his daughters, Renea Culver and her husband Jacque Culver, and Randi Salazar; his grandchildren, Chloe Culver and Star Salazar; and his siblings Berta Berton and her husband Eddie Berton, Robert Salazar and his wife Cecelia Salazar, and Ruben Salazar and his wife Ana Salazar. He leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss his laughter and presence dearly.
