Ralph Lynn Smith
December 13, 1961— March 11, 2026
Flint, MI
Ralph Lynn Smith, affectionately known as “Pook” to his family and friends, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Flint, Michigan. Born on December 13, 1961, in Pontiac, Michigan, he was the cherished son of Joan Smith and the late Robert Smith Sr. He grew up alongside his brother, Robert Smith Jr., and his sister, Jody (Shane) Conn, in a home filled with laughter and love. Family remained the cornerstone of his life, and he took great pride in his roots.
On August 16, 2001, in Waterford, Michigan, Pook married Carla J. Estel, who became his devoted wife and partner. Their marriage was a beautiful example of mutual love and companionship. Music was a lifelong passion for Pook; a talented drummer, he found deep joy in rhythm and the beats that moved him. He also cherished his collection of hot rod cars, especially his beloved 1982 Camaro, and spent many peaceful hours building model cars with the same care and attention to detail he brought to everything he loved.
Those who knew him will remember Pook as a thoughtful, funny, and passionate man whose warm spirit and infectious laughter brightened every room. He had a remarkable ability to find humor in life’s challenges and shared that lightness freely, always placing the needs of his family and friends before his own.
Pook is survived by his loving wife, Carla; his mother, Joan Smith; his brother, Robert Smith Jr.; his sister, Jody (Shane) Conn; and many dear friends and family members whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Smith Sr., and his grandmother, LeBurney Wood.
