Ralph James Copenhaver

Ralph James Copenhaver, 89, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on November 14, 1936, in Marlinton, West Virginia, he moved with his family to Long Island, New York, in 1944. It was there that he built a home, raised a family, and formed lifelong friendships.

In 1956, Ralph proudly joined the United States Army Reserves, serving his country with honor until his discharge in 1962. He later worked for many years with the New York State Yard, where his strong work ethic and quiet dedication to providing for his family defined his character.

Ralph was first married to Patricia Murdock. In 1994, he married the love of his life, Linda Copenhaver, and together they shared 43 years of deep companionship and devotion. Above all, he cherished his family. He was the proud father of seven children: Pam Copenhaver, Bret Copenhaver, Dawn Copenhaver, Randy Copenhaver, Susan Copenhaver, Michael Chieffo, and Robert Chieffo. His family grew through the years, and he is survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Ralph will be remembered for his strength, his steadfast commitment to his loved ones, and the many quiet moments of joy he created with those closest to him. He leaves behind a large and loving family who will miss him deeply and forever hold his memory in their hearts.
