Hochstetler, 75, of Batesville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville.He was born January 17, 1951, in Nappanee, Indiana, the son of Robert and Catherine (née Sanders) Hochstetler. He married Linda Varner on June 1, 1974; she preceded him in death.Ralph graduated from Ball State University with a major in U.S. History and Political Science and a minor in Library Science. He later earned a Master's degree in Library Science from Indiana University. He dedicated many years to serving as a librarian with the Batesville Community School Corporation, where he supported students, instilled a love of reading, and created inviting spaces for learning and growth.In retirement, Ralph enjoyed reading and remained active by participating in numerous 5K and half-marathon races, especially the Indianapolis Colts events and runDisney races at Walt Disney World. Above all, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren, who were his greatest source of joy and pride.His warmth, wisdom, and deep devotion to family and community will be profoundly missed.He is survived by his sons, Ryan (LeeAnn) Hochstetler and Jay (Kerri) Hochstetler; grandchildren, Kaylee, Braden, Camryn, Emma, and Lydia; sisters, Mardelle Wenger of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Debby Slusser of Dunedin, Florida; brother, Darrell Hochstetler of Nappanee, Indiana; brother-in-law, Michael Lakes; sister-in-law, Marcia Douglas; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Catherine Hochstetler; and his beloved wife, Linda.Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Give Kids The World Village or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.Please feel free to share memories or messages of comfort for Ralph's family in the online guestbook.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
