On March 7th, 2026 Ralph Charles Thompson,86, passed away peacefully at home after a heroic battle dealing with illness.Ralph was born on June 25, 1939 in Boston Ma but raised in Allston Ma to the late Edgar David Thompson and Mariam K (Storm) Thompson . He was the youngest brother of the late Frank and Edgar Thompson. Ralph is survived by his loving wife Mary (Callahan) Thompson of 60 years. In addition, he leaves his loving daughter Sharon Thompson of Natick, his son Eric Thompson of Waltham. Ralph is also survived by his loving sister Lorraine Fay Woodcock of Oregon. As well as his sister in law Rita Dwyer of North Fort Myers Florida. Proud grandpa of Ryan Cardona and his wife Monica of Nashua NH, Christopher Cardona and his partner Mikaelah of Waltham, Marcelo Cardona and his wife Yessenia of Auburn Ma, granddaughters Cassidy and Angel Thompson-Crowder of Natick, as well as being a great grandpa to Raiden, Khalani, Javian, and also survived by a great grandson Luca who is expected in early July. Ralph is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as friends and neighbors of his residency.Ralph enjoyed spending time in Nova Scotia as a child and as an adult where his family was from. Ralph lived in Newton Highlands with his wife and children for many years.He was self employed as a carpenter, and house painter as well as being employed with the city of Newton as a custodian at Newton South High School for 26 years before he retired. After many years living in Newton Ralph and his wife Mary moved to Waltham for years then finally moving to the town of Wayland where they reside.Ralph was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, ice boating in the winter months. He liked camping, watching football, golf , and the tv show Criminal Minds and Blue Bloods. He also enjoyed reading . Ralph liked music; his favorite songs were Run around Sue , and Chantilly Lace. He loved going for walks and always looking to build or fix things around the house.Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren . If anyone knew or met him they would never forget his warm smile, his gentle ways, his kindness, his sweet funny personality as well as him being a story teller. To his family he wasn't just a husband, Father, grandpa, great grandpa he was our everything.Somewhere over the rainbow above the clouds in a land that seems so far away there is a handy man who built his life on dreams. No task no chores no obstacles left undone. A caring, honest, hardworker, a great provider, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin, friend…That unselfishly gave his all, a heart of gold, hands of steel the Master of multi-tasking, this handy man has answered the call. A reliable man of integrity there is a handy man in a land somewhere over the rainbow above the clouds who is fixing Heaven's gates, oiling hinges, painting the gates with pride and care so they will open for all who wait for the call.On behalf of our family, we would like to thank the VNA Hospice Care Team and everyone who got to know Ralph and helped take care of him.
