Raleigh James Lyles
July 19, 1958— March 4, 2026
Columbia, SC
Raleigh James Lyles was born on July 19, 1958, in Kershaw County, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Clyburn Lyles, Sr. and Elease “Pearlie” Bennett Lyles. He passed away on March 4, 2026, at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Known affectionately as “Ralo,” Raleigh was educated in the public schools of Richland County. A longtime and faithful member of Fort Clark Baptist Church, he served as a greeter, warmly welcoming others into the congregation. He was a skilled handyman and tradesman who took genuine pride in working with his hands, fixing things, building, and helping anyone who needed assistance. He found joy in being outdoors and tending to his yard, but his greatest pleasure came from caring for his family and reaching out to those around him.
Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Paul Lyles and Clyburn Lyles, Jr. He is survived by his sisters, Christine (Charles) Robinson, Etta (Sylvester) Bright, Ronetta (Eddie) Pringle, and Patricia Lyles, all of Columbia, South Carolina, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and dear friends who will cherish his memory and miss him deeply.
