Rajith Thomas Kurien George

Rajith Thomas Kurien George

August 15, 1988 March 9, 2026

Rajith Thomas Kurien George was called home on March 9, 2026 at the age of 37. Born on August 15, 1988 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India, he moved to the United States at the age of six. From early childhood, Rajith’s brilliance was evident as he often outwitted his parents and teachers. He possessed a beautiful singing voice, and he was a fearless skier, skilled golfer, red belt in Tae Kwon Do, and accomplished long-distance runner. His promising path was altered at seventeen when he was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy, a progressively debilitating disease. Yet even through this hardship, Rajith maintained his positive attitude and loving nature. While others pursued conventional achievements, his accomplishments were measured in resilience, patience, fortitude, and faith in the face of tremendous adversity.

Rajith never lost his sense of humor, often laughing at himself and gently teasing others out of bad moods. He was frequently the center of family stories because of his adventurous and mischievous spirit, yet he was always quick to shine the spotlight on those around him. He was gentle and patient with every generation of his family, taking time to teach his grandparents how to use their cellphones and sitting on the floor to build Legos with his nephews. He loved anime, Pokémon, listening to music at full volume, board games, theme parks, and above all, spending time with his family. Even as his health declined, he refused to let his disease define him and lived his life to its fullest capacity.

He is survived by his parents, Ravi and Susan George, his sister, Renuka George, his brother-in-law, Burke Gallagher, his nephews Rohan and Kiran Gallagher, his grandmother Grace Thomas, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him deeply and will miss him greatly. Rajith was simply the best of all of us, and we are all the better for having known him.
