Pureza D. Jacaban, MD (PJ), of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born in the Philippines to Juanito and Balbina Jacaban, PJ earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines, in 1963. She dedicated more than 40 years to caring for her patients and community and was affectionately known as "Dr. J" by those she served. She was known for her ever-smiling presence and humility and was deeply appreciated by those whose lives she touched. PJ was affiliated with hospitals and clinics across Ohio, including Toledo, Cleveland, Dayton, and Columbus, and also maintained a private practice in Northwest Ohio.

Outside of medicine, PJ enjoyed traveling, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Zeny.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Zeniada. She is survived by her four children: Marie Joyce (Ariel) Silva, Rosanna (Greg) O'Leary, Patricia (Christopher) Miranda, and Alexander Miranda; her grandchildren: Sean (Darrah) O'Leary, Nicholas (Lindsey) O'Leary, Kevin O'Leary, Lily O'Leary, Katie O'Leary, Aidan Silva, Aaron Silva, and AJ Silva; and great-grandchildren: Audrey O'Leary, Liam O'Leary, and Callum and Conor O'Leary.

A private graveside service and burial will be held by the family. For those who wish to honor and remember PJ, a Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, March 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43207.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation www.komen.org to honor of her journey as a breast cancer survivor; to Barks and Rec (Columbus, Ohio) www.barksandrecohio.com in gratitude for their care of PJ's beloved pup, Zeny; or to Mount Carmel Dublin Hospital in appreciation for the attentive care she received.
