Albany, GA

Preston Tucker, Jr., age 75, of Lee County, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, surrounded by prayer and love. Born on February 25, 1951, in Pelham, Georgia, to the late Preston Tucker, Sr. and Flossie Lashley Tucker, he grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany High School. Preston lived a life marked by strong faith, unwavering dedication to his family, and a deep love for the outdoors.

He brought an unmatched work ethic to everything he did, spending many years in construction management with the site engineering department at Merck Chemical Company. After the plant closed, he completed his career as a field engineer at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station in South Carolina. Preston was an avid outdoorsman who cherished deer hunting and fishing, particularly for bream with a cane pole. He generously shared this passion with younger generations, creating lasting memories during weekends at the family cabin where stories were told and traditions passed down.

Preston was a longtime member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, where he played softball for many years, and later attended Sherwood Baptist Church with his wife. He also enjoyed bowling, volleyball, and weightlifting. Above all, his greatest joy came from caring for his family. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Shelia Tucker of Lee County; his children, Chanda White of Atlanta, Haley Tucker Clark (Travis) of Thomasville, Georgia, and Joshua Preston Tucker of Lee County; his brother, Ronnie Tucker of Albany; and his beloved grandchildren, Dawson, Owen, and Brooks Clark, Kayla Mote, and great-grandchildren Lily Vega and Naomi Linsey. He also leaves behind siblings-in-law Shanna and Andy Allison, Gene and April Singletary, dear friends James and Joy West, and cherished nieces and nephews who held special places in his heart.

The family is grateful for the devoted care provided by Abby, Stacy, Makalah, and Casey during his battle with Parkinsonism-Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. They find comfort knowing Preston has entered his heavenly home, his body now whole and healed in the arms of Jesus.
