Pietro “Pete” Verbena, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Wood Dale, Illinois. Born on January 2, 1947, in Adelfia (Bari), Italy, Pete carried a deep and enduring love for his birthplace throughout his life.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, mentor, and friend who brought warmth and joy to everyone around him. Pete is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Verbena, his daughters and son, his cherished grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, a niece and nephew, and his son-in-law.
Pete was the proud owner of Verbena Plastering, where he built a respected business and earned a reputation as a true master of plastering and molding. He took great pride in his craftsmanship, creating lasting work with his hands and demonstrating a dedication, skill, and strong work ethic that earned the admiration of many.
Beyond his work, Pete was full of life. He loved music and could often be found singing and dancing, bringing energy, laughter, and joy wherever he went. His unforgettable laugh and welcoming presence had a way of lighting up any room. He possessed a generous heart and was always ready to help others, offering guidance, wisdom, and support to family, friends, and those who sought his counsel. He will be remembered as the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for, and his spirit lives on in the memories, laughter, and love he shared so freely.
