Pierce "Joe" E. Thacker

Master Chief Petty Officer Pierce “Joe” E. Thacker, 90, of Lakeland, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Born on June 3, 1935, in Kentucky, Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy for more than twenty years, retiring in 1976. After his military career, he lived in Michigan for several years before making his home in Lakeland in 1986. A lifelong learner, he earned degrees from Mt. San Antonio College in California and Northwood University in Michigan. Deeply committed to his faith, Joe was a devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lakeland for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Thacker, his mother, Frances Walker Thacker, and his beloved wife, Kay Thacker.

Joe is survived by his sons, Michael Thacker and Joseph “Joe” Thacker (Emiley), his loving partner, Beverly Foster, his granddaughter, Avery, and dear friends Henry Navarro, Rick Foster, and Kathleen Foster.
