Phyllis Twaina LeDoux-Sapp
Tipton, IA
Phyllis Twaina LeDoux-Sapp, 80, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 11, 2026.
Born January 14, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Hank and Imogene (Aldridge) Ward, Phyllis later made her home in Iowa, settling in Tipton in April of 1981. On October 14, 1995, she was united in marriage to John Edward Sapp in Tipton.
With gifted hands and a creative spirit, Phyllis took great pride in her many talents. She loved to cook and can, generously sharing treasured family recipes with her children and grandchildren. A skilled seamstress and craftswoman, she spent countless hours sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and doing upholstery work, while also finding joy in drawing. Her deep love for flowers and gardening was evident in the beautiful beds she tended wherever she lived. Known for her green thumb, she especially cherished her lilac-colored blooms and carnations, which reflected the care she brought to everything she touched.
Those who knew her will remember Phyllis for her spirited personality. She could be a fiercely protective “she-bear” when it came to her loved ones, yet she also possessed a playful sense of humor and delighted in harmless pranks. Above all, she cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them.
Phyllis was a proud lifetime member of the VFW Post 2537 Auxiliary in Tipton and a member of the Cedar County Historical Society.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, John Sapp; her children, Raymond (Peggy) LeDoux of Clarence, Iowa, Terry (Heather) LeDoux of Tipton, Iowa, Gordon (Jessica) LeDoux of West Branch, Iowa, Gypsy Harshbarger of St. Joseph, Illinois, and Fay (Steve) Kern of Philo, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Hank Ward (Deb); and her sisters, Vicki Golden and Penni Whitney (Dan). She was preceded in death by her parents, Hank and Imogene Ward, and her brother, Benjamin Ward.
